The Boston Consulting Group takes on major players and dominates the marketing world via internet marketing, predicting and foretelling the future of many compny outcomes. Video gaming is the hottest trend in entertainment right now. The current consoles out there are Sony's Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintento Wii. There are also PC games available, but their popularity isn't as large as it used to be, give the fact that now many users can connect with other players through the internet connections in their gaming consoles.
There are a variety of games out there and the majority of consoles become outdated in as little as 5 or 6 years time. Surprisingly, some of the most exciting games to play, as the ones that you can play on the Wii. It is built for all ages, and doesn't focus on violence as a selling point. In my opinion, if I was going to own a console, it would be a Wii. You can even watch NEtflix movies for 9 bucks a month through your Wii! And my grandma can play with me too(if she didn't think the whole thing was absurd to begin with!). I guess my opinion about the awesomeness of the Wii is shared, and by one of the most reputable comapnies out there.
"In April 2008, Nintendo was ranked seventh in the annual BusinessWeek-Boston Consulting Group ranking of the world's most innovative companies. The award recognized the company as an innovative design powerhouse that had challenged the prevailing business model of the video game industry with its new video game console, the Wii." http://hbr.org/product/nintendo-s-disruptive-strategy-implications-for-th/an/HKU814-PDF-ENG
Why was the fabulous Wii chosen? One of the mjor things that Nintendo did was to bring out all the people who don't normally sit and play Grand Theft Auto or Warcraft. Wii is a family-style gaming console and in an age where technology rules, what better way to bring a family together on Game Night, than with a night of dancing or bowling via the Wii?
I sure my opinion will change. The true gamers out there, unlike myself, are going for the virtual experience. Many gamers out there eat, breathe, and sleep with their games. The live to be in the game. The marketing pwerhouse who captures the true gamer's heart will blow the roof off the industry and climb up BCG's ever famous list.
"The next generation is going to be so powerful that playing a game is going to be the equivalent of playing a CGI movie today," predicts Yves Guillemot, chairman and CEO of the publisher.http://www.cnbc.com/id/31331241/The_Next_Generation_of_Gaming_Consoles
